WaterSafe welcomes Catering and Point of Use installers

WaterSafe, the national register of qualified plumbers and contractors, is now welcoming Catering and Point of Use installers into the scheme.

Catering Installers are qualified to install water-using catering equipment such as dishwashers, thermostatic mixer taps and steam ovens, while Point of Use Installers fit and maintain mains-fed water coolers or water chillers.

Crucially, both have demonstrated their understanding of the water fittings regulations which help keep drinking water safe.

To be eligible to join, a contractor must have a recognised water fittings qualification and be employed by a business with appropriate insurance.

The installers must first be a member of one of the approved contractor schemes which accept approved Catering Installers and Point of Use Installers as members: Anglian Water’s APLUS, Severn Trent’s Watermark, the Water Industry Approved Plumbers’ Scheme (WIAPS), and the Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF).

Julie Spinks, Director of WaterSafe, said: “I’m delighted we’re welcoming qualified approved Catering Installers and Point of Use Installers to the WaterSafe family. It will help businesses to find trusted professionals and is an excellent way for installers to demonstrate their competence to customers.
“If equipment is improperly installed, it can lead to water waste and even contamination, so it is vital a contractor is properly trained.”
Julie added: “There are lots of benefits to joining WaterSafe, including promotion and branding, with a listing on the largest online directory for approved drinking water contractors in the UK, promoted to thousands of people each day, and by your local water company.
“Approved installers can also self-certify some jobs to their local water company, saving valuable time.”
