Behind the Scenes of Our New Scotland Recruitment Film

We’re launching our new plumber recruitment film to encourage qualified plumbers in Scotland to become members of WaterSafe. Organiser Jenny Griffiths reveals who stars in the film and where they’re from.

When I was asked to plan WaterSafe’s new film encouraging plumbers in Scotland to sign up, I was looking forward to an adventure away from my desk. 

I certainly got that! A cancelled flight, snow and a temperature of -10 degrees in Aberdeen meant some of my original gang of approved plumbers from Derek Scott Plumbing & Heating were called away to emergency jobs, but I was delighted to still have Shaun Scott and his apprentice Quinn Murray in front of me.

Shaun has featured in WaterSafe films before, so he knows the drill, but it was all new to teenager Quinn. Fortunately, both were pros behind the camera, and we soon had the shots we needed.

Also starring in the film are Michael Cairns and Mark Whyte, approved plumbers from Celsius Plumbing & Heating in Edinburgh, who stepped in at short notice. Thanks guys, you did a great job, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

A big thank you also goes to Laing’s for allowing us to use their stunning kitchen and bathroom showroom as a backdrop for some of the shots. I’m told people from across Scotland go out of their way to visit this family business when they’re upgrading their property and I can see why.

The next stop was Scottish Water to record Andrew Porter, Technical Support Advisor in the Byelaws Compliance Team. Andrew is the star of many Scottish Water films and expertly delivered his lines in no time.

Also quick off the mark was Andy Kennedy, Drinking Water Specialist at the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland. He was a performer in a past life and said his bit perfectly on the first take, although we made him do it a few more times just in case we were missing something.

Being involved in the film offered a perfect opportunity for me to get out and about meeting people who are valued supporters and members of WaterSafe. Thank you to everyone involved and we hope you enjoy the final cut.
