After months of hard work and development, the launch of WaterSafe has been a great success with new members joining daily and thousands of visits recorded on the website.
A month on from the official London launch event at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster, the WaterSafe Installers' Scheme now has more than 3,500 Recognised plumbing professionals registered and employed by over 1,600 Approved businesses.
Representatives throughout the water industry attended the launch on Tuesday, October 8, with words from Andy Foster of the Trading Standards Institute, Kevin Wellman, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), Julie Spinks, Managing Director of the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and WaterSafe Recognised plumber, Colin Stainer.
Industry support combined with endorsement from partners and our members alike has been instrumental to the advancement of WaterSafe as a preferred national plumbing register, offering credibility to businesses and peace-of-mind to customers on a national scale.
The Scheme, described as showcasing "joined-up thinking at its finest", has been in development since early 2012 and applications have been accepted from eligible existing members of the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes.
With the backing of all UK water companies, the Worshipful Company of Plumbers and Water UK, not to mention the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes offering WaterSafe membership, the WaterSafe message has been spread far and wide.
An extensive media campaign has been the main driving force behind the success of the Scheme. TV coverage and radio interviews featuring, among others, consumer champion, Alice Beer, have helped broadcast WaterSafe across Britain with more than 60 news articles published in regional press and trade magazines.
Looking ahead to 2014, WaterSafe will be launching the second phase of consumer campaigns, highlighting the importance of using a WaterSafe Approved business and we also look forward to welcoming new members onto the Scheme - which is free to join for eligible existing members of the seven Approved Contractors' Schemes: APHC, CIPHE, SNIPEF, WIAPS, Anglian Water's A Plus, Seven Trent Water's WaterMark and Thames Water's TAPS.
