The role that members of WaterSafe play to keep that water safe is a small but invaluable contribution to the health of people in the UK on a daily basis.
I’m proud of each and every job a WaterSafe accredited businesses has carried out in households, offices, schools, hospitals and other buildings this year, knowing they have the knowledge to help keep our drinking water safe.
As plumbers, we have great respect for water, which is why it astonishes me that in Britain we drink three billion litres of bottled water every year! We import bottled water from abroad and 90% of bottles end up in landfill, where they can take 450 years to break down.
Maybe with this in mind our resolution for 2016 is to be more responsible with this precious commodity.
The drinking water supplied by water companies in the UK is among the best quality in the world and we can do our bit to keep it this way in people’s homes and let them know just how good it is.
For now, I wish all our WaterSafe members a Happy Christmas (with not too many emergency call outs during the Turkey dinner!) and best wishes for 2016.
